International Hydrogen Fuelling Station Document is Available For Review
Karen Hall, National Hydrogen Association

Work item ISO 20100 Gaseous hydrogen — Fuelling stations (formerly ISO 20012), is now available for review as a Committee Draft (CD). This is an important step on the development path for an International Standard. The Document is currently published as a Technical Specification (TS). During the Draft Technical Specification phase, numerous technical comments were received. A special effort was made to get a broader group of stakeholders involved in the development of this document. A consultation inviting the P-members to nominate additional experts from the fuelling infrastructure (manufacturers, integrators, regulators) and vehicle OEMs was initiated at the request of the convener.

The schedule for this document was adjusted to allow an additional nine months to work on the issues raised during circulation of the DTS. The scope has been expanded, and there are plans to expand it even further in future revisions when appropriate experts can be identified to address the new topics.

The Working Group formed three task groups to address comments on safety distances, dispenser safety and other comments from the circulation of the DTS.  These task groups have conducted their work through in-person meetings, telephone conferences, web conferences, and e-mail.

The resulting Committee Draft is now available for comment. This is the principal stage at which comments from national member bodies are taken into consideration, with a view to reaching consensus on the technical content.

NHA members may request a review copy from Karen Hall. Comments from NHA members will be collated and provided to the US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Administrator. If you are not an NHA member and you are interested in reviewing this document, please contact your national body. In the US, the TAG Administrator is Jill Thompson at CGA. Experts are encouraged to carefully study the texts of the committee draft and submit all pertinent comments before the due date established by each national body.
