U.S. Department of Transportation Hydrogen
Roadmap Now Available
U.S. Department of Transportation
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta has approved
the Department
of Transportation's (DOT) Hydrogen Roadmap. The Roadmap
serves as the guiding document for DOT's Hydrogen Safety Research,
Development, Demonstration, and Deployment programs. It outlines
the roles and activities of each participating DOT operating
administration, and serves as an outreach document for communication,
coordination, and collaboration with other Federal agencies,
Congress, industry, and the public.
The Roadmap delineates four major topic areas for DOT:
- Safety Codes, Standards, and Regulations;
- Infrastructure Development and Deployment;
- Safety Education, Outreach, and Training; and
- Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicle Development, Demonstration,
and Deployment.
Describing current and projected DOT activities supporting President
Bush's Hydrogen Initiative, the Roadmap illustrates the paths
and timeframes necessary to enable a successful hydrogen infrastructure
for the transportation enterprise. It also provides a concise
and consistent document for future program direction.
As a "living document," the DOT Hydrogen Roadmap will
be updated as necessary. The Roadmap, as well as additional
information and resources, can be found online at DOT's hydrogen
web portal, located at http://hydrogen.dot.gov.
