Path Forward for Joint Hydrogen Technologies
and Road Vehicles Group: ISO TC 197 / TC 22 Joint WG 5 Update
Livio Gambone, Convener, ISO TC 197/TC 22 Joint WG
Working Group 5 is a joint working group between ISO TC 197
(Hydrogen Technologies) and ISO TC 22 (Road Vehicles). The Final
Draft International Standard (FDIS) vote on ISO/DIS 17268
- Compressed Hydrogen Surface Vehicle Refuelling Connection
Devices will take place this month, November 2005. The document
to be voted upon will be the original SAE J2600 standard published
in October 2002, and will only include editorial comments agreed
to at the Grenoble Joint WG 5 meeting (per ISO Fast Track rules).
The Joint WG5 has held three meetings since the last plenary
session, and the convener has attended two SAE J2600 meetings
in the interest of eventually harmonizing the two documents.
Once the FDIS is approved in early 2006, the Joint WG 5 will
continue to meet in order to resolve the outstanding technical
issues and to harmonize with SAE J2600. As soon as this follow-on
work is complete (anticipated to be before the end of 2006),
the intent will be to issue a revision to ISO 17268 with the
appropriate technical changes. The Joint WG 5 has received the
mandate from the technical committee to follow this path.
